There's always been something that's turned me off of music featuring overly IDM naming cliches like "indecipherable word followed by arbitrary number", but you know what? You can't judge a book by its cover and New York's Iameb 57 proves that. If the music is good, the title doesn't really matter. You can grow to accept things like that. I mean, I still don't know how to say or even commit to memory a single title to any of the tracks on Drukqs, nor even how to really pronounce the name of the album itself, but it's one of the best records ever made.
So really, it doesn't matter that I have no idea what Iameb 57 means or the fact that even attempting to pronounce the name to anybody in person will surely garner confused "what kind of pretentious shit is this douche talking about?" looks.... What matters is that this track and the rest of the EP it comes from are actually pretty fucking awesome and you should probably check them out. Some classic melodic IDM mixed with elements of hip hop and laced with plenty of well-placed audio trickery - if you're into Autechre's more musical outings, stuff like Ochre, Prefuse 73 and Funkstörung, then you'll definitely dig this stuff.
