All the California readers out there take note! Bay Area-based Record Label Records is hosting their first 2 day festival on September 23rd & 24th at Zool in Oakland and it's a massive line-up chock full of Gravity Halo regulars. "Cremation of Care" is the first ever multi-day festival from RLR and here's hoping they continue it annually if they're able to put together acts like this. Tickets are $9 per night or $15 for a 2-day pass and both nights offer plenty to drool over.

Gravity Halo regular William S. Braintree has a new record dropping next month and judging by the previews, it's gonna be a good one!

The full length, titled "House of Meats" will be released on Braintree's own Vae Victis! Records and features some slick artwork by Vincent Giard. It will be available as a digital download via BandCamp, iTunes, Amazon and the like, or as a professionally pressed CD release through his BandCamp page.

You can peep the album teaser on the player below.  "House of Meats" will be available July 19th, so stay tuned!

Drygalski Ice Tongue by william s. braintree

You likes teh IDMz, yes? Well, I have very good deal for you, my friend. More of those cold, plucky synths, funky bass and skittery beats that you love from William S. Braintree in this track "Drygalski Ice Tongue". Normally ten dollar, but for you I give for free.

Futonic's description:
Some new friends of ours as well as a few familiar faces have come together to produce this incredible tribute to the world's largest particle accelerator, CERN's Large Hadron Collider. A mammoth feat of science and engineering, some hope the LHC will provide insight into the very fundamental questions of physics; others fear it will create a black hole, swallow the earth, and end the world as we know it. Either way, we have the soundtrack! Download and enjoy the sometimes playful, sometimes dark, but always lovely contributions from your friends at Futonic who hope to bring out the inner particle physicist in everyone.

Well friends, we're 8 months into this Gravity Halo undertaking and so far, so good.  We're steadily gaining readership, hits and most importantly, we're putting out a TON of great music by some really talented artists and giving them a platform for their music to spread across the globe.  Now that's not to say that we've reached our goals or even a comfortable resting place because there's lots more room to grow, but it is a great time to put together a release that sums up what Gravity Halo is all about.  Thus, we present to you our first compilation/mixtape - "Broken Pieces".  These 14 tracks run the spectrum, from awkward's ambient noisescapes to Acidburp's lush, progressive breakcore to Mumkai's neck snapping beats to Sendy's epic sound adventures and Rock Hyrax's intricate micro-glitch - the styles vary drastically, but the connecting threads are clear.  These are all incredibly skilled independent artists that are driven by their love of making tunes and that's apparent in every second of this record.

Enjoy the release, spread it around, repost, reblog, re-fuckin-tweet, tell some dude on the street...let's do this, people!

Apologies for the lateness of this - just returned from an EPIC trip down to Los Angeles - but better late than never! William S. Braintree's record "This Is Story" came out on Monday and we've got a few tracks for you to sample. I'm particularly loving "Space Birds" at the moment. Absolutely lovely track!

As I've mentioned a few times before, most of the artists on this site are not new to the game. Many of them have been churning out tunes for 5, 10, even 15 years and have quite a few releases under their belts to show for it. So we've decided to dig into the vaults and begin re-releasing past records from the artists involved with the Gravity Halo Collective.

Beginning in March, the first Tuesday of every month will see the release or re-release of an album/EP from one of our many talented artists. Releases will be available to download as ZIP files including artwork, with streaming previews of select tracks to help you make your decision (as if you need anything other than my word!).

Up first will be a previously unreleased EP by awkward titled "awakened" from the magical year of 2005. I've heard it already and alls I can say is that it's fucking awesome, so be sure to check back on March 2nd for that. You can listen to it on your way to see William S. Braintree in SF that night!

Polymono
San Francisco, CA
IDM/Pop

--------

Polymono is a San Francisco based duo, consisting of Colin Dyer (William S. Braintree) and Kaitlyn Smith. They make catchy indie-pop tunes that blend live and electronic instruments with a heavy dose of Dyer's trademark frantic IDM production wizardry and a tongue-in-cheek delivery that's hard to resist.

The band is currently working on their debut album as well as a live show and will begin gigging around San Francisco very soon (I've heard March). Check out these 2 tunes "Followed By A Cloud" and "Bomb Squad" for a taste and then head over to their soundcloud page to hear more.

William S. Braintree
San Francisco, CA
IDM/Braindance/Electro

-------

Colin Dyer, a.k.a. William S. Braintree is a native of Columbus, OH now operating out of San Francisco, CA.

Blending the glitched out beatwork of IDM/Braindance with funky Electro basslines, twanging melodies and a hint of 8-bit video gaming goodness, his music is as intellectually stimulating as his name would imply, but equally stimulating to the lower rump shaking region of the human physique.

Mr. Braintree has been gigging around San Francisco and is currently fine tuning a live set for his side-project, the IDM-pop duo Polymono (more from them later), expected to start making the rounds this March. To whet your appetite, check out our sampling of these two amazing tunes, "For My Electric Sheep" and "Howie".

User Warning: All early-model robots, cyborgs or androids should be powered down and stored in a safe position before playing these tracks as uncontrollable thrashing and gyrating may occur in certain susceptible units.
