Oxynucid has been a busy boy lately, prepping his upcoming "Vault 13" full-length on Complex Sound Sagacity, gigging, playing festivals and even helming the August Rotation here on the Gravity Halo site. And somehow in the middle of all that, he's found the time to deliver these 20 searing bangers in the form of "Refreshed & Compressed", available as a digital download from his Bandcamp page for ₤6.99.
These 20 tracks are loaded with fuzzy synths, emotive melodies and video game landscapes paired with an almost shoegazey vibe that really sets Oxynucid apart from the pack...it's even got a Radiohead cover (of sorts). While more of a compilation of assorted tracks than a cohesive album, this one is well worth the time and money and will almost certainly get you hyped up for the "Vault 13" release.

This month we've got Dominick Schofield a.k.a. Oxynucid taking the helm for all of August, so get ready for some knowledge!
Schofield has been on a steady roll for the last few years, producing albums and EPs under the Oxynucid alias as well as teaming up with Vertical67 to record as Moth Conk Midi. He played keys in the indie-electro band Turncoat for 10 years before leaving to pursue his own brand of playful, melody-driven, acid-fused techno IDM for the likes of The Centrifuge, Complex Sound Sagacity and Caoutchou Records.
"Vault 13" is his next release, coming soon on C.S.S., and you can listen to a preview mix of the record below in preparation for his residency here on the blog. Check it out and enjoy!

This new Moth Conk Midi track "Open Tray" offers some playful acid silliness with a shit-ton of really nice, rubbery synth lines, think breaks and lovely melodies to start off your weekend. Rumor has it we should be getting a lot more MCM music in the near future, so I guess you should start getting psyched right..............NOW!

Moth Conk Midi is a collaboration between Oxynucid and Vertical67 and their 2010 album "Amazing Stories" is, well...pretty amazing. You can download it here, if you aren't already hip to it. "Overpowered" features the vocals of iAM9.

London-based Oxynucid has been on a pretty solid kick lately, releasing some great tunes on The Centrifuge label and now delivering the "Cod Liver Oil" EP on C.S.S. His sound harkens back to the classic years of bedroom electronic music before beats became overly programmed and signals overly processed. Just good, clean British techno, as it was still called back then.
Electronic musicians have been doing a lot of reminiscing lately, trying to recreate fleeting eras that were gone before they had the chance to really mature (the unfortunate nature of "experimental" music) and while initially it might feel like another flash-in-the-pan fad - everybody following Aphex down the "Analord" rabbit hole - the important thing is to ignore the fact that everybody and their mom is doing "analog acid" these days and focus on what's really important here - the music. You know, that thing we're all really here for. Oxynucid's music is just plain good. The beats serve their purpose without being overly wanky, the synths shine, the chords create atmosphere, the melodies stick in your head and the structure evolves in ways that the classics never quite did.
It's obvious Oxynucid knows what he's doing on the keys and if you were ever a fan of early Aphex, Global Goon, Plaid or newer stuff like EOD, Fah or Wisp then I definitely recommend you browse his catalog. Quality stuff!
